Greenwood Linear Park Project
The Greenwood Linear Park will transform the abandoned C&G right-of-way into a vibrant, multi-purpose path for bicyclists and pedestrians. The linear park will include lighting, native landscaping, site fixtures such as benches and bike racks, public art, fitness stations, and a permanent pavilion for the Downtown Greenwood Farmers' Market. Phase I of the project will stretch from Lamar Street to Parkway Avenue and is being planned by LandDesign of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The project is being funded with $1.4 million in congressional appropriated funds, $800,000 in Transportation Enhancement funds from the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and $400,000 in local matching funds.
