Delta State University photography professor, Kim Rushing, will exhibit his work from his 2016 book, Parchman. The exhibit will be on display from September 21 to November 4, 2017.
In 1994, Rushing was given the unique access to photograph and interview inmates in the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman. His photos feature black and white photos of the inmates. Rushing's visit to Parchman was the first time an outside photographer was allowed to photograph its inmates. For almost four years, he was given access and created images about their lives and prison conditions. The inmate's stories are told in the form of hanwritten text written by them. The man featured in his work volunteered to be photographed and permitted Rushing to share their experiences.
Reception is Free for current Museum Members. Non-Members pay standard admission charge. Author will be signing books supplied by Turnrow Book Co.

Flim Flam exposes the ugly side of recruiting, and is a testament to the current climate of illegal football recruiting. It is a thought-provoking, down-and-dirty account of the reward of hard investigative journalism. The book is reality-based with no embellishment of truth. The writing style includes frequent down-home phrases, and raw language of the football world. Illustrations, including individual, family, and archival photographs, will be included to add dimension to Robertson’s story.
